![]() So, first you've setup the PS5 but with Harmony searching device as PS3 Re-posting the steps I followed to assist anyone else trying to pick this up Hope this helps anyone else out there who’s been struggling to get their Harmony to work with their PS5. You just have to make sure you enable the correct HDMI control options on your TV (and receiver if applicable.Īnd that’s it! Now my PS5 activity lets me turn on the PS5, control the PS5, and turn off the PS5. That way when you turn off the TV (and for the me the receiver as well) it automatically turns off the PS5. I just made sure the “Enable Power Off Link” feature was enabled on the PS5. ![]() Now I guess I could’ve manually added all the button presses to properly turn off the the PS5 but I did it the lazier way. That doesn’t turn off the PS5 but it forced me to replace the “poweroff” with anything else before it would let me save the changes so I figure that was a harmless enough command to give. Instead I replaced it with the PS command. I also manually edited the PS4 device’s power off sequence to remove the “poweroff” command that was there by default because I believe it was trying to do the proper button presses for turning off the PS4 which does not work for the PS5. For my Sony TV it was a matter of hitting the BraviaSync button and then the OK button twice with delays in between the button presses to be safe. But I fixed that by editing the activity startup sequence to hit the right TV buttons to startup the PS5 using the HDMI device link controls. Now even though I now had the Harmony controlling the PS5, I found that the PS5 activity on the Harmony would not turn on the PS5. So I attempted to add the Harmony Keyboard as a Bluetooth device on the PS5 and it worked! And this time the actual PS related buttons on the remote worked too! So then I deleted the PS3 device from the Harmony remote and just have the PS4 device on there which for all intents and purposes functions as a PS5 device. Then I picked up the Harmony remote and selected the PS4 device and tried hitting one of the PS related buttons at which point it gave me directions to pair the remote again. So on a whim, I deleted the Harmony Keyboard registered device on the PS5. Tried rebooting a few times and still wouldn’t work even though it still showed the Harmony Keyboard as a registered device and connected. But then when I tried hitting any of the PS related buttons on the remote nothing happened. Well I just did the same thing I did before to add a Bluetooth device on the PS5 and select “Harmony Keyboard” and this time it actually added it as a registered accessory! Now when I selected the PS3 device on the Harmony remote and tried hitting one of the screen buttons like “X” it once again gave me directions to pair the remote but this time with the PS3. This time I kept the manufacturer as “Sony” but made the model number “PS3.” So at this point I had both PS4 and PS3 devices added. So then on the Harmony I added another new device. Long essay ahead.įirst I added a new device with manufacturer name of “Sony” and model number of “PS4.” Then the Harmony remote gave me directions on how to add the remote as a Bluetooth device on the “PS4.” So I followed those instructions on the PS5 and tried to add the “Harmony Keyboard” as a Bluetooth device but I’d keep getting an error saying that the device was not supported. For example, the Megadream Bluetooth 3.0 Gaming Remote can connect and control via Bluetooth, but loses its connection every time you power down the PS4.I’m not quite sure what exactly did it but I’ll tell you everything I did in the hope that it might help another Harmony owner. There are also some third-party Bluetooth remotes, but make sure to read reviews before purchasing. Any remotes that feature Bluetooth and/or connect to a Harmony Home Hub can control the PS4 after this update, including Ultimate Home, Home Control, and Smart Control. What Multimedia Remotes Work with PlayStation 4Īs of June 2, 2015, Logitech's hub-based Harmony remotes are able to control PlayStation 4 natively. Turn on the option and you'll be able to flip through the PlayStation's menus and control playback. Here are some common names for the feature: It should be found somewhere in your set's setup menu. On your TV, the description varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Check off the box marked Enabled HDMI Device Link. From the main PS4 menu screen, acceess Settings on the top row of icons.
